Urban Refugee Marathon: Championing Inclusion and Social Justice

The Urban Refugee Marathon is a one-day advocacy and awareness event taking place in Kampala, designed to bring together over 20,000 participants, including urban refugees, host community members, UN staff and NGOs, to reflect on the challenges and opportunities facing urban refugees. With the central theme of social justice and employment, the marathon aims to raise awareness about the rights and responsibilities of refugees, generate commitments from leaders, and advocate for policy reforms that promote refugee inclusion in mainstream service delivery systems. The event features a 5km, 10km, and half-marathon run, creating a platform for solidarity, civic engagement, and empowerment.
