How did you join the Re:BUiLD team?

A friend shared with me a link to the job advert. I applied. The rest, as they say, is history. It’s been more than two years of an enriching experience working for an innovative, ambitious, and impactful program.

What’s a typical day like for you?

A typical day involves engagement with colleagues over programmatic matters, reviewing and signing of documents, reading and responding to emails, participating in meetings/calls and engagement with partners and stakeholders.

What’s your favorite part of your job?

The job provides great learning opportunities. I also enjoy the fact that the Re:BUiLD program is flexible in the sense that adaptations can be made in the course of implementation to factor in changes in contexts, lessons learnt, and new knowledge arising.

What is your greatest achievement/thing you are most proud from your work at Re:BUiLD?

I would say that collectively we’ve done some great work. I started out with Re:BUiLD in communications and advocacy. I am now in program Management. Overall, I am proud of our achievements in establishing and managing relationships with stakeholders and production of incisive policy briefs that have been the foundation of our external engagements.

What would you like your colleagues to know about your work?

It’s always great to keep in mind the overall goal of the program so as to know how our daily, weekly, monthly etc. efforts contribute to achieving set objectives.

Do you have any hobbies or favorite pastimes outside of work?

My favourite pastime hobbies are reading and riding my bicycle (I got a sports bike that I think is really cool!).

Who’s been your favorite mentor?

I’ve honestly failed to answer this one. But I have benefited from the mentorship of many, both within and outside of Re:BUiLD.

What’s your favorite book?

My favourite book is Zorba the Greek by Nikos Kazantzakis. I’ve read it multiple times. Each time I do, I find it as fascinating as when I first read it. The book is about two protagonists, an intellectual monk and an earthly wonderer called Zorba.

What is your favorite quote?

DAgain, I’ve failed on this one. I can’t nail down a quote that I can say is my favourite because I have many favourite quotes. I deploy them depending on suitability.

Where would you go if you won a “dream vacation”?

A dream location for me would be what constitutes the ‘dream’—a green place by a water body with fresh air, a book, a coffee, a bicycle…
