Re:Build website goes live!

The Re:Build website is now live!  Visitors can log on at https://rebuild.rescue.org.

The website, under construction since late 2022, was launched on Friday, May 19, 2023 during a virtual event attended by staff and partners from Kampala, Uganda and Nairobi, Kenya.

‘‘We are excited about the launch of this important channel through which we will be sharing the impact of Re:Build interventions on our clients,’’ said Priscilla Dembetembe, the Re:Build Program Director.

‘‘At its core, Re:Build is about learning. We seek to draw lessons about what works and what does not work for achieving economic self-reliance for urban refugees. The website is an important avenue through which the program will share adaptations made in programming, lessons learned, experiences gained, policy briefs developed, evidence generated, and the impact on the lives of the people we serve,’’ added Dembetembe.

Designed to be secure and  user-friendly, the website provides  visitors an interactive experience through for example having a ‘live chat’, email contacts and phone numbers to promote engagement with the Re:Build Program.

The website also shares links from partner sites and a dedicated landing page on the IKEA  Foundation and Re:Build on rescue.org.

Products on the website include newsletters, factsheets, reports, impact videos, and blogs, among others.

To keep the site fresh, a dedicated communications and web management team will regularly update content and keep it secure.

The Refugees in East Africa: Boosting Urban Innovations for Livelihoods Development (Re:Build) is a five-year urban livelihoods program, which is now in its third year of implementation.

Launched in 2021, Re:Build is a partnership between the IKEA Foundation the International Rescue Committee  local and international partners and seeks to offer services to 20,000 urban refugees and vulnerable host community members in Nairobi and Kampala.

Since its inception, the program has offered services to 7,529 clients in Kampala and Nairobi comprising of 3,981 refugees and 3,548 nationals. Of these 4,275 were female and 3,240 male.

Re:Build is a strong voice in advocating for favourable policy and regulatory environments to support urban refugee self-reliance in East Africa and beyond. We welcome you to interact with the website, subscribe to the Re:Build in Action newsletter, share thoughts and feedback.
